I was using the IP number

Ping 192.168.1.100

Now the one thing I am not familiar with is if you
have multiple NICs in a machine do you have to specify
what one you are using like you do when you start
DHCPD should I be doing Ping Eth1 192.168.1.100??

sorry for seeming stupid it has been almost 2 years
since I have worked with Linux and then it was just in
a workstation setting.
