Hello. Some time ago Jamie McCarthy posted about bind 8 vs. 9.
Specifically, he mentioned that 9 had some 'hidden' code that we were
not allowed to see. I noted that bind9 was not in debian/contrib or
non-free, so I installed it when doing some system rebuilding work. I
think it works great, much quicker than bind8, almost as fast as
dnscache. (bind9, for example, when measured with time (1), returns a
host (1) request with all the time spent in userland, not kernel, like
dnscache and unlike bind8.)

So, is this just a rumor, or has ISC changed their license (to BSD), or
is it something more complex? TIA.
