Most distributions of Linux ship with the University of Washington IMAP
and POP3 services for providing basic mail services to a variety of
clients. Cyrus IMAP is an alternative suite of mail server applications
for providing sophisticated mail services such as shared folders,
bulletin boards, NNTP integration, service side scripting and filtering
, etc... Developed by Carnegie Mellon University Cyrus IMAP is used by
many large e-mail installations (10,000 users).

that you can participate in the process of making formal decisions, including 
voting for officers.
