try creating a new user, or deleting the config files so that KDE has
to re-create them.
KDE is a little weird when it comes to icons on the desktop, where new
files pop up and such.
I haven't had a real chance to delve deep into SuSE 8.2 yet, because
I've been experimenting with wireless and VPN (the SuSE wireless tools
in YaST are kinda nice, they simply get the job done, but a little
lacking on the UI).

on a side note, does anybody know of a good place (besides ebay) that I
could get a cheap 802.11b wireless card? all I want is something that
works, nothing fancy (seldomly you'll hear me say that...)
