I don't know where Victor gets off, but let me put up a policeman's stop
hand here.
I come to this group because there is _expert advice_ and it is given in
a non offensive (i.e. Read-The-@#$%-Manual) and non condescending way.
You want more donations? Tells us WHY you need them, and then ask for
them! Then make it EASY to give them.

Well, it's no surprise to me, and should be expected, that KLUG has
problems
when it comes to donations, volunteers, and members. The problem seems
to be
pretty obvious, and doesn't require one to be a sysadmin to see. I made
a
post in Members Digest Vol 1 #1044, and received exactly ZERO replies,
not
even a "flame". I posted almost exactly the same message in a couple of
other
LUG mailing lists, and I'm still replying to offers of help, rides to
meetings (some as much as 2-3 hrs drive away), and general messages of
welcome, glad to have you, how can we help? If YOU were in the shoes of
a new
(or experienced) user, which group(s) would you support? If KLUG finds
itself
short of volunteers, members, and donations, you have only your own
attitudes
to blame. No amount of technical expertise can make up for a lack of
simple
courtesy, and no pretty website can attract new members like a simple
"Hi,
welcome." from a group member.
Victor
