Don't know. But it is a good question.

Your not the first person to have this idea. And it has been on my
back-burner list for some time. Only until pretty recently there hasn't
been much support for iCal in Open Source packages. This is definitely
a feature under consideration by me.

Excellent. The current calendar is drawn from a simple PostgreSQL
database. I'm not certain what SQL->DAV{iCal,wCAP,etc...} proxies are
available.

It is not a dumb idea.
