I'll try that next.

But ~/hold has a bunch of subdirs:

(gdb) file ./dirsum
Reading symbols from ./dirsum...done.
(gdb) run ../hold
Starting program: /var/home/peter/dirsum/dirsum ../hold

Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault.
0x0804b601 in SubDirectory::OutputDirList() (this=0x804e668) at

(gdb) step

Program terminated with signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault.
The program no longer exists.
