Did you upgrade to Fedora?  ;-)

Can you manually remove the usb-storage module and re-modprobe it?

Do you have a lot of USB storage devices?  Different devices seem to be
assigned to a different SCSI bus every time, and you could run out.

Last result would be setting your 'uptime' to zero.  :-/
