Adam,

>From your message, I am not sure where your larger partition was mounted
that you are trying to use for your queue and log files. It seems like you
changed your config to use the larger partition and that is causing the
erratic behavior. When I ran into a similar problem with a Postfix
installation, I grabbed an old 3GB HD, booted the mail server into single
user mode, did a mount /dev/hdb /tmp/postfix, moved all the Postfix files
from the small partition to the new hard disk, then remounted the hard disk
in the postfix queue file area. That got me through until I could do a
repartition with parted. My next server I made sure had LVM installed.

Hope that helps.

-----Original Message-----
I have a qmail server here that gets quite a bit of traffic. The
partition which holds the queue and log files was too small, and
therefore, I was constantly having to remove log files, so I moved the log
files, and parts of the queue, to another larger partition. From what I
see, all the file permissions are correct.

Everything goes well for a while, but I notice that my queue keeps getting
larger, as does my number of un-preprocessed messages. I know that qmail
holds undeliverable mail in its queue (I can account for all 1000 of those
queued messages) but I can't account for the growing unprocessed ones.

If I stop and restart qmail (svc-stop, svc-start), the queue will run down
a ways, including unprocessed ones, then stop shy of it's goal.

The logs for qmail don't give me a reason to believe that things are
failing, it just *does*. I'm thinking of moving my queue back, but I'm
not sure that will help, either (as it will fill up that partition
anyway).

Any pointers? I haven't tried using queue-fix yet, but this is getting
annoying - I can't tell if my test messages are getting through or not (I
keep restarting qmail :/)

Adam
