I had a machine for awhile with a Creative Labs Graphics Blaster, which was
merely a relabeled Permedia card,  it worked.  Permedia, in turn, is a 3Dlabs
related product.

I'm rather suprised it doesn't 'just work'.  About what vintage is the video card?
