Adam,

Thanks for all the great info on Samba.

I am encouraged to know that the newer versions will work on my RedHat 5.1
box and not cause problems with the WfWg 3.11 hosts. Also, I found veto
files and veto oplocks in the Samba 1.9.18p5 man pages!!!

The developer doesn't want to guestimate transition time to the new app on
the new server, so I am really tempted to go for the newest samba version to
get the VFS trash can and hopefully bail out of some of the file locking
problems.

>From a command prompt on my NTsp6+ box, I tried a cacls testfile to a file
on a network drive mapped to my home dir on the samba server. I got a
response of "The network request is not supported."

Any clues why this would not work? Are you using the M$ cacls or someone
else's utility?

I am constantly amazed at all the capabilities of samba.

Bob
