<html><div style='background-color:'><DIV>Sorry this is coming from my hotmail account, but you'll see why.</DIV>
<DIV>We use sendmail on a RedHat 7.3 box; it's been up for 260 days.&nbsp; Today mail delivery stopped for no apparent reason.&nbsp; Kevin Mitchell from Iserv helped me set up the box,&nbsp;so I called him for help.&nbsp; He had me run some programs from the command line, and thus came to the conclusion that DNS lookups were not occuring properly.&nbsp; The box will not resolve any names outside of whats in the hosts file.&nbsp; I can traceroute to IPs, therefore all physical connectivity&nbsp;must be&nbsp;OK.&nbsp; We don't use internal DNS, we use Iserv's DNS servers.&nbsp; Another weird thing is all other machines on the network (M$) can browse OK. The hosts line in /etc/nsswitch.conf is: "hosts:&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; files dns nisplus".</DIV>
<DIV>The question Kevin wanted me to ask (as he is not familiar with RedHat) is: Since he is assuming the resolver libraries are broken (corrupted or erased), what RPM from my CDs would restore them?&nbsp; Any other ideas or insight&nbsp;would be very helpful--he will be monitoring your responses and answering anything I haven't made clear (since I can't).</DIV>

<DIV>Thanks,</DIV>
