<html><div style='background-color:'><DIV>Sorry this is coming from my hotmail account, but you'll see why.</DIV>
<DIV>We use sendmail on a RedHat 7.3 box; it's been up for 260 days. Today mail delivery stopped for no apparent reason. Kevin Mitchell from Iserv helped me set up the box, so I called him for help. He had me run some programs from the command line, and thus came to the conclusion that DNS lookups were not occuring properly. The box will not resolve any names outside of whats in the hosts file. I can traceroute to IPs, therefore all physical connectivity must be OK. We don't use internal DNS, we use Iserv's DNS servers. Another weird thing is all other machines on the network (M$) can browse OK. The hosts line in /etc/nsswitch.conf is: "hosts: files dns nisplus".</DIV>
<DIV>The question Kevin wanted me to ask (as he is not familiar with RedHat) is: Since he is assuming the resolver libraries are broken (corrupted or erased), what RPM from my CDs would restore them? Any other ideas or insight would be very helpful--he will be monitoring your responses and answering anything I haven't made clear (since I can't).</DIV>

<DIV>Thanks,</DIV>
