After running OpenNMS for awhile now, (starting right after Adam's
presentation) I have noticed that I get a lot of false positives.

Every morning I come in to a bunch of notifications that some service
was down 10-20 seconds.  Well ... I DON'T CARE unless the service goes
down for a lot longer than that!!!

Considering OpenNMS also page me, this tends to get real annoying.
(don't worry, I have my pager turned off at night :)

I tried upping the timeout and retries, but I must have done it wrong.
A lot of config files have timeout & retry parameters, so maybe I
tweaked the wrong config.  Any suggestions???
