I just started playing with our Lindows (Walmart/$199) at work.
This is the reason why I'm going to bring it to a meeting and show it.
Come play with it, and decide for yourself.

I believe that is true.
It doesn't come with any server software loaded (that I know of).

Seems like the logical objective.

I haven't played with it long enough to form an opinion myself.

Upon the first boot, it immediately logs into KDE as root (no password).
(Highly customized KDE)
When I set the root password, the next reboot ask for the password
before logging in.
When I created a non-root user, the next reboot came up with the KDM
login screen.
So the answer is, it defaults to root w/ NO password. However, it has a
nice GUI for creating "normal" users, so it can easily be converted into
a more conventional Linux multi-user system.

Cool. The presentation date is to be determined (AFAIK).
