[KLUG Members] OT: Domain registration question

Hey everybody.

I registered the domain craft-bazaar.com around a year ago. At that time,
the domain craftbazaar.com was unavailable.  According to WHOIS, the
latter domain expired on Dec 29, 2002.  So...  is it available?
I guess I don't want to get into any legal trouble by trying to register
without knowing first exactly what the rules are.  I sort of started the
process with my registrar (gandi.net) and they said the domain was
registered and I can transfer it.  This alarms me because I don't want the
current owner (who let it lapse) getting in a huff over it.
Any advice or experience?
