Actually, I am seeing gandi say that it is not available. Keep in mind that you can only transfer a domain from one registrar to the other if you alredy "own" it.

I battled with Network Solutions for a year over an expired domain - even though it was expired, they held it with absolutely no explanation. Eventually it went to one of those idiotic "buydomains" "services" - damn morons try to "sell it" to you for an EXTERMELY bloated price.

"The minimum quoted price will be be at least $688, and could be as much as $10,000. We will only respond to serious requests that are complete and accurate. Any submissions with false or unverifiable information will be deleted."


Back to the point, though, I do not think you can get that domain, but if you can, do not worry about ruffling feathers - if the domain was so important, they would have renewed it.
