We have Novell NDS running now, which will definately stay intact,
regardless of which option we decide to take.
I'll look into the samba lists and see what I can find.
Thanks for all the input....it's GREATLY appreciated!

Definitely ...

BTW, the "pGINA" replacement "GINA" for NT/2K/XP will allow logins to
alternative directory systems, such as LDAP:
http://pgina.cs.plu.edu/
If you have a Windows server application that absolutely requires
ActiveDirectory, then consider "segmenting off" that small portion, and
making
ActiveDirectory "submissive" to OpenLDAP. That's exactly what the
Florida
Institute of Technology (FIT) did across their entire WAN backbone of
thousands
of systems:
http://acctsync.sourceforge.net
Whatever you do, _never_ put ActiveDirectory in charge of your entire
Enterprise.

Microsoft states Linux's GPL is "viral" so I guess all the authors
in the US who require you to pay royalties to print their books
must be the digital "black plague." Copyright is copyright and
the GPL prevents commercial use without a license from the holder.
