How do you do this with dd for a running system? A "hot" backup, if you will?

IMO, the Novell imaging thing is a little tough without strict enforcement
of workstation naming and object creation. In the schools, it's tough
because the folks on the front line (teachers doing support before and
after school for a little extra $$$) simply don't adhere to imaging
procedures...like that pesky task of naming the workstation when done. If
you're starting from scratch with ZEN imaging, I would think it would be
way more manageable. We're supposedly giving it a try again with ZEN 4,
but I have my doubts given our inability to name a workstation.

However, it's neat to see a company like Novell using Linux in such a way.
I have heard from more than one person that many Novell developers use
Linux as their desktop. Kinda cool. :)
