Hold on!  My fault!  The file _should_ be:

   /usr/share/comps/i386/.discinfo

Sorry about that!

I also checked, and the file is part of the package:  (CD#1)

  comps-extras-8.0-3.noarch.rpm

Try loading that RPM instead of creating the file manually.
