Suprisingly there are very few of these.  There used to be a program called
Seyon, way back in the day.  But it is long since defunct.

Your best bet is probably minicom.  It comes with most distributions.

There is a commercial package at 
http://freshmeat.net/redir/powerterm/31185/url_homepage/pti4linux.asp that
actually seems to have the features you would expect in a terminal emulation
package.  It has a free trial.
