[KLUG Members] CMYK for GIMP, is this a big deal?

About: Th CMYK GIMP plugin allows RGB -> CMYK separation within the
GIMP, using littlecms for colour-management, and allows the result to be
saved as a CMYK TIFF. 

Everytime I've heard someone 'dis the GIMP, they point to the antiquated
RGB model and say "real" packages use CMYK.  So is the above
significant?  (From a graphics ignoramous).
