I have actually tried this to some extent - unfornately most of the postings on
there for armadas are very old. Either the people's email addresses are no
long current, the person has long since sold the device or as stated, they used
an external (pcmcia) network adapter.

I am currently using mandrake on that machine and as stated have for some time
also using a pcmcia network card. The ethernet expansion base is new and I
have proven that it is at least connected properly as all the other expansion
ports (parallel, serial, mouse, keyboard, etc) are working fine.

The ether device seems to be working as well as the win98 partition I have does
'see' it and at least 'attempts' to install the win95 drivers from the floppy I
created via the compaq driver's website. I don't have my 98 disk here
presently so I am not able to finish the install at this time to see if the 95
drivers will function under 98 as well.

I gave that a shot, but it appears to see the cirrus logic GD 7548 graphics
card and the OPTi devices for IDE and soundcard, etc.

00:00.0 Host bridge: OPTi Inc. 82C557 [Viper-M] (rev 14)
00:01.0 ISA bridge: OPTi Inc. 82C558 [Viper-M ISA+IDE] (rev 02)
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Cirrus Logic GD 7548
00:14.0 IDE interface: OPTi Inc. 82C621 (rev 12)

I also tried running through the install process previously up to the point
where it tries to autodetect the net device(s) and it was unable to.

I have tried this to some extent as well going through all the drivers that
were included with the mandrake install (which is quite a few) but as near as I
can tell none of them have taken.
