Minesweeper works too :)

Last time I used wine, it ran mIRC but it was slow.  I program in VB at work and various other
languages as my hobby.  I tried VB in wine and it would load the IDE but that's about it.

If VB is your hobby, perhaps convert it to a more open-source solution?

vb2c converts Visual Basic source code/form files into Unix C code that compiles with the GTK
library.
It's not bug free, but it could possibly speed up conversion if you were to decide to go that
direction.
