All I did was had an old HD with Win98 (must be Win9x currently NT
kernel support is extremely poor) and put it into my computer. I
uninstalled the version of WINE shipped with my distro and installed the
RPM off of Codeweavers. Ran the graphical firsttime wizard included in
the package where it found the Windows partition (make sure to use a
real Win partition if available it runs better) and was able to use the
registry. I opened IE and had no problem.

When I downloaded WINE the trial was not limited in any function that I
could see and was not time limited.
