I know there's a name for the standard (I know it starts with "A"), but
I have so many letter combinations floating around in my head right
now, I don't know what all of them mean.

what is a good piece of software for monitoring CPU / Motherboard
temps, fan speeds, and power supply voltages? I know I can get to this
info in my BIOS, and I've seen WinBlows tools that do this.

if it helps any, I have an ASUS board, ALi chipset (I know, I know, but
I went with the board so I can alter the multiplier on an unlocked CPU
through the bios), and an AMD Thunderbird.
