I am by no means an expert or power user of Linux (being on  the same 
boat with the DOS/Windows experience), but I would definately recommend 
a copy of "Running Linux," published by O'Reilly Press.  I believe it is 
in the fourth edition.  I have found help for nearly any administrative 
task I want to accomplish within that book.  It's not real distro 
specific, so if your wanting in-depth help with Red Hat or another 
popular distro, you may want to purchase a book on that also.  Just my 
two cents...
