Our little clinic is looking for a couple of older notebook PC's to put
in a hallway as access points to our Win**/Un*x networks. I would say
~ 500Mhz would be plenty to handle the minimal load these would get.
My questions is "What is a fair price for the older slower machines?"
I've seen Celeron 800Mhz at $450 AND P3 650 at $550. I think this is a
little too much, but I really have no clue as to the fair market value.
These will probably get Linux with a terminal emulation program. NICS
will need to be had for both (wireless for one). And the clincher is a
COM port being a necessity to connect to the Un*x network. Any
thoughts on what the price range might be would be very appreciated.
