Yes,  I'm not exporting the service to the Internet (I'm not nuts). 
Users need to be internal or punch the firewall with a VPN.  Still
extemeley useful for a myriad reasons.

> In what ways can this be an admin's nightmare?

If you've already got a Tomcat server, than no pain as far as I can
see.  What can be more painful than CIFS services (samba or not)?
