I read that make install left your old kernel, but would update grub to
link to the new one. I am looking for command as to how I can either
edit the grub file to point to the old kernel image, or to boot off a
rescue disk and somehow mount the laptop partition to run the make
modules command on the /usr/src/linux directory. At least I think these
will work if I can figure out the commands necessary.

If not I will just have to go and reinstall and this time upgrade the
kernel before I do anything else so that I don't lose a bunch of work
setting up a new system.

Thanks for your help.
