Suggestion #1:  Update your system!!!
You're running a really old kernel, and if the rest of your system is
that old, you're vulnerable to attack.

Are you sure it uses the bttv module?  That module is normally for
TV-tuner cards.  What type of connection does your camera have?
If it's a USB connection, it's probably more like the ov511 module.

BTW, I've installed a PCI TV-tuner card (BTTV) in SuSE 9, and it
automatically detected the card and configured it upon bootup.

What is the make/model of the camera?
