I agree with Bill Hollet concerning top posting and judicious excising text
in messages on the KLUG list.

I don't want to waste my time wading through mid or bottom posts only to
find a "Ha Ha" at the end of three pages of responses. Especially when I
have already read the previous posts and it includes three or more "End of
List" messages from digests. People simply didn't take the time to clip the
unnecessary text. They simply clicked on reply and posted.

I am constantly dumbfounded by KLUG posters who top post and don't even
bother taking the "End of List" messages from the bottom of their response.
But hey, we are all very busy. If someone in a big hurry only has time to
click on reply and top post to provide me with some extraordinarily useful
information, I will appreciate it, even if it has three "End of List"
messages at the bottom.

Sure, bottom posts make it easier to follow message flow when you have found
the post via an archive search and everyone on the list adheres to the same
protocol.

But, KLUG is not exactly developers posting changelogs entries to Linux
kernel archives. Hence it seems a bit pushy to suggest that posters not top
post when KLUG posters routinely don't even review the subject of their post
or remove any superfluous text at the bottom of their post and nobody has
said a word about it.

When I need answers to specific problems I am trouble shooting, I often end
up in newsgroups archives. I end up having to click on Next/Previous in
threat when viewing most archive results returned by Google searches. It
doesn't seem to matter whether people top post or not. I can find what I
need.

It would be nice if KLUG had a posting policy and everyone adhered to it.
But I appreciate all the valuable information posted here whether or not it
is top posted.

Regards,

Bob
