On each subsequent distro install, you'll need to make sure you don't
install LILO or GRUB with the new distro. This means you'll need to
select the expert level of install so neither LILO nor GRUB is installed
automatically.

You can probably share /boot across Debian and Gentoo. I don't know
about FreeBSD.

You should also note that GRUB will probably adapt to your setup better
than LILO. With LILO, you need to do a lot of symlink or command line
magic to alter LILO's boot table when you're not running off the
partition LILO is installed on.
