I know! This thread is nothing short of extraordinary! :)

Yeah, I read that thread. Then this thing came up. The company we're working
with was going to have a couple of people at the KLUG table. Then they simply
could not make it.. Both parties to this thing (them, and KLUG), decided to
work out the arrangement we have today. It is technically accurate to say
that KLUG is now handling the sale of these machines, on behalf of a donor,
but KLUG is not selling anything it owns. We are acting as the agents in a
tranasaction.

Yeah, we had not worked out those details at the time of that thread. It is
easy shorthand to say that "KLUG is selling rackmount servers", but with
Bruce's posting and my own, I hope this is now clear down to the fine print,
which will be available at the time of sale in any case.

Yes, and anyone interested my reply to me off-list about this. I do not want
to encourage anyone who migh use the KLUG mailing lists for commerce, even
oin a case like this.

>Hummm, eBay or benefit KLUG, eBay or benefit KLUG, I THINK I'll check out

Yeah, shame on me! :)
I do not want to see the KLUG mailing lists become a zone for commerce; we
have plenty of those already. Even if it might in some sense benefit the group
by expediting the movement of these servers, I hesitate, since we have worked
long and hard to keep this space free of commerce.

You may be dissappointed to see what sort of Philistine I can be in person,
especially with servers to move! :))
