I have an external firewire hard drive that I occasionally use to backup
my laptop. It worked fine in Redhat 9 (and possibly older RH versions).
When I switched from Redhat 9 to Fedora Core 1, the firewire drive quit
working. That was part of my incentive to switch from Fedora to SuSE 9.

It may be fixed in Fedora updates by now, since I had the problem back
when FC1 first came out and I haven't tried it on Fedora since. (YMMV)
