Yeah, but we have cooler computers than most Porsche drivers. ;)

As far as the subject matter.  I can say that I've interviewed a bunch of 
people recently and have several friends that are recent graduates.  The 
thing that gets people in our door for an interview is almost always 
experience.  Sure, certs and degrees both are important especially for 
higher level positions.  But I'd recommend to any young person that's 
interested in a career in this industry to get a job in it right away. 
Even if it's an entry level part time job it's still very worth it.

Experience also doesn't have to be a job.  Set up a network at home.  Set 
up a bunch of servers & services.  Test it out and DOCUMENT it.  Put 
this on your resume as special projects or interests.  Bring the 
documentation to your interview!
