Is this over the network or from a local drive? Over the network just
use any available CIFS clients, for local drives it is (a) a bad idea
or (b) you can use a bootable distro like Austrami which has NTFS
support - but that still doesn't negate (a).

Back-up your data first; NTFS is only safe under Windows (and barely
then).

I've used local NTFS partitions under VMware from Linux and that is
pretty much the same as using 'real' Windows. But I still attach, do
what I need to, and unattach as soon as possible. The NTFS recovery
tools suck, so you don't want to leave the filesystem in an unknown
condition.
