This is somewhat off the subject, but it is relevant and its something 
that I just learned about today.

This is a link to a live X windows cd for Windows. Its based on Cygwin 
and X.org's X server. It can run off of the cd or it has an option to 
install it on your hard drive. I suspect that you will never have the 
problem from it that you are having with putty. Obviously if you install 
it it will be alot bigger footprint than putty has.  Anyway, I thought 
it was neat.
