First of all, I'd like to wish each and every one of the people on this
mailing list a very happy and healthy New Year, and I look forward to a
better year for all of us, filled with prosperity, joy, fulfillment and
satisfaction.

This is a season of celebration and renewal, and it is no different for
those of us who have volunteered to run KLUG. For all the folks who have
helped out, whether it was doing presentations, writing code for our
website, burning CD's or watching doors, you all deserve special thanks
for helping make KLUG possible for so many of us.

Now, in these few weeks, KLUG is going through something of a process of
renewal, and I would like to invite you to participate. The real strength
of our group comes from this, since we involve a broad base of people, in
practice anyone in the group who wishes to help make KLUG stronger.

Yes, in order to help make KLUG strong, you need to do something. You need
to take a look at the kinds of positions we have, at:

 http://www.kalamazoolinux.org/organize

You need to read and think if one of these positions is for you, or for
someone you know. Then, you need to send that name (perhaps your own name)
to us, using one of the links on that page.

Right now, we have a race between two candidates for Chairman, the incumbents
running unopposed for Treasurer and Recording Secretary, and NO Candidates
for Vice-Chair or Member-at-Large.

We can do better. In order to stay strong, we need to do better. If you
have not seen the positions we have, or considered what you have to offer,
as well as what you have to learn, please take the time to do so now. Our
nominations process will END in a few days, so please act soon.

In the coming year, will KLUG remain as strong and vibrant as it is now, or
will it stagnate, lose strength, and suffer from a lack of renewal?

The choice is yours. Please consider renewal, and the consequences of
inaction.

Remember, the spirit of Linux is one of contribution, and collaboration. In
this season of renewal, we ask you to act as a citizen in that spirit.

Have a Happy New Year, and lets' all look forward, and consider stepping
forward, for a great 2004.
					    Regards, and Happy New Year!
