I work for OSDN, but I don't know... I would guess that they paid
to send you the text in the email in the first place.  Most ad
services don't pay by the click-thru anymore, they pay by the
impression.

But I'm in the coding and editorial part of OSDN, and I have
almost nothing to do with ads, so don't take my word for it.

Maybe.  But you might just be confusing the poor programmers (like
me) who have to do tracking of the dang things.  I'll get a call
from someone, "hey Jamie, why did we send out 1000 impressions and
get 50,000 clickthrus? your code sucks!" and then I'll be all mad.

Besides, if the click does give OSDN a penny, it takes that penny
from IBM -- why would you want to pennylize the nice folks who
prepared the material in the first place?
