[KLUG Members] Compiling Drivers

I use Novell ZENWorks for Desktops at many of my clients' sites.
One of my Clients have a group of workstations with embedded Intel Pro 100VE NIC in them.
The e100.o driver that comes with the ZFD Imaging system doesn't work with this NIC.
I went to Intel's site and downloaded the latest source.
Novell's imaging system runs on the 2.4.18 kernel
This is what I compiled. I'm going to test it today.
This method did work for the Broadcom 57xx driver though.

I'm trying to compile drivers but for a kernel version other than the one
running my system.
I'm running 2.4.20
I need to compile for 2.4.18
What is the proper way to do this?
To get it done quickly I edited the make file and changed the part that is
looking for the kernel source to only look in the directory of the source I
want to compile for, /home/jeremy/linux.
Was this correct or is there a better way.
