No, actually what I've been using primarly is just leaving it blank,
however I've tried all kinds of things.  Blank is what worked in the
past.  I never expected one of the smb.conf macros to work from the
actual user record though.

Blank but I've also tried setting it.  No dice.

What I was trying to get at was that I thought that samba was createing
*ALL* files as root (I mean POSIX root not Samba root) regardless of who
the user that logged into the XP client is.  So I think it is a file
creation problem rather than an actual problem with the profile setting.
