[KLUG Members] Feedback on possible IT student help

Hey guys,

I am thinking about trying to hire a part time, temp IT student to help me
put together a Systems Administration system (something like the Morrison
Industries IT Manual that Adam has) that would help me get my job done more
efficiently, allow me to take vacations and smooth the transition from one
System Administrator to another in the event that I should leave my present
position. At the level of workload that I have right now, it is very
difficult for me to find any time to work on putting this type of support
system together. I have all the pieces and parts but I don’t have a single
repository or index into the information required to supports the company IT
infrastructure.

I suspect that it would be possible to setup something with the faculty of
Davenport College or SouthWest Michigan College either as an apprenticeship
or an externship or failing that just part time work for one of their
students in an IT Administration track.

I haven't taken the proposal to my management yet. Before I do, I would like
to know what anybody else thinks about this idea and/or find out if anybody
else has done anything like this. I would like to hear what their experience
doing this kind of thing has been.

Regards,

Bob
