Or called "transparent proxying" in most things I've seen.  If you want to
perform authenticated, etc... then transparent mode doesn't work, it will also
break things like NTLM, where the browser needs to know there is a
man-in-the-middle.  For use proxy-autodetection (in IE anyway) works very well;
 I only with Moz-and-friends would get on the stick about really supporting proxies.
