[KLUG Members] Compiling from source then installing by rpm

I am in the process of setting up a Mythtv box with Fedora core 2.  But there are a few things that do not work with the stock kernel.  There is a pretty good walk thourg how to get it done but it is from completely compiling from source.

I like how how RPM's keep things nice and tidy.  Easy to uninstall and upgrade.  So I was wondering if compiled from source then will I be able to later switch over to rpm's again at a later time.
