John will be presenting DigitalVCR, using multiple input Video capture
cards (bt848/878 series), running on Linux, and employing FFMPEG,
motion, and Postgres to maintain a long running archive of multiple
video inputs.

John assembles these systems for companies under the brand names I.T.
Golem / Wagner services.

John Wagner was born in 1972 in Lake Charles, Louisiana. He attended the
University of Chicago from 1990 to 1994 where his studies included Math
and Physics, and finally, a degree in Economics. After graduating he
moved to Atlanta, GA to work for an academic press where he worked on
databases, specifically, Oracle and XBASE implementations. In 1998 the
American Theological Library Association in Chicago hired John to
develop ATLAS in Oracle, which he completed in 2000. In 2001 ATLAS
closed their Atlanta development office, after which time John commuted
weekly to Chicago to further development and train replacements for a
year. In 2002 John founded I.T. Golem with his brother Robert, an
architect in Atlanta, developing custom system solutions (specifically
video security systems). Meanwhile his wife wanted to move the family to
Kalamazoo, to be with her extended family.

In February 2004, John sold his Atlanta house, moved to Kalamazoo, and
is now working to get himself off the ground in the Southwest Michigan
market. His experience includes public use projects such as the Ecanon
(http://purl.org/ecanon), subscription services such as ATLAS
(http://purl.org/atlaonline), and various Oracle/MySQL/Postgres/...
E-Commerce/ whathaveyou databases now in use.
