As many of us have discovered, a new Linux kernel release means
bothgreat advances and many pains: often, a system must be upgraded
'byhand,' carefully checking software versions and file names and
locationsto conform to new or upgraded standards. This presentation will
covermany of the issues surrounding the upgrade from Linux 2.4 to
2.6,features added and obsoleted and what to expect while running under
2.6.sysfs, udev and /bin/hotplug replacing devfs, NPTL, LVM 1 and 2,
kbuildand how to compile your own kernel will be covered.
