Pretty much, the wireless router adds a router and a mini NAT firewall
so you can use it for cable/DSL connection sharing.  They also usually
have an optional DHCP server.   They also sometimes come with a mini
switch of about 4-5 ports.

We've used a wireless router at the meetings, but we don't use the
router part of it.  We don't connect the internet port.  We only use 
the builtin switch and the wireless.
