I just got done spending a fair chunk of time with a friend whose
CharterMI cablemodem twice had problems while I was there.

When I had SBC for a year, it was good service (no, not the tech supprt,
of course, that was cluelessly effective, if you get my meaning). SMTP
outbound worked, and I could run a web server as well. My mom has them
now, as SBC Yahoo, and she has had problems, but she runs it under old
Windows so it's not a fair comparison.
