I am assuming that your camera is using USB to connect to the 
computer.  The software that you are wanting to load is not really
nessesary I believe.  If you plug the camera in it should come up as
another hard drive on the system.  This is the way that most of them
look to the computer, whether it is Linux, Windows, or Mac.  Then you
can just copy or move the files to where you want to locate them and
then use the editi ng software of your chosing to do whatever else
you want to with the pictures.  Instead of fighting with the dual
boot, I would just connect the camera to the system and forget the
software.  They will work with the system similar to a USB pen drive.
