Are you sure X is listening for TCP connections? By default Fedora
seems not too; there is some -nolisten or some such. Broken, IMHO, but
they'd call it 'security'.

This is true. Since they switched to x.org I have to boot to run level
3 and startx manually; automatically starting X just causes a video
spasm.

I had this same problem. Installing some set of packages seems to have
fixed it; I don't know which install or upgrade did it. The Fedora
dependency tree is WHACKED! I can't even install the headers for
libsoup for the version of libsoup I have because it says it requires an
older version of libsoup!?
I'm going to run screaming into the arms of SuSe this weekend. This is
freakin' ridiculous.

Yep, me too, the installer left me with a non-bootable machine.

Get xmms from freshrpms.net
